The 21st Annual Hair Expo Hairdressing Awards – NZ Hairdresser of the Year Finalists Announced
Four Auckland hairdressers were this week announced as the finalists in the prestigious Hair Expo New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year award. They are Mana Dave of Maelstrom Hairdressing, Tony Elwin of Durham Hair, Bronwyn Illingworth of Toni & Guy and Iain Smith of Me salon.
The winner of this and all other categories in the 2006 Hair Expo Australian and New Zealand Hairdressing Awards will be revealed on 12 June at Hair Expo in Sydney.
The Hair Expo Hairdressing Awards are the longest-running and most respected awards in the hair industry. These ‘Oscars’ of the hair world are the industry standard and represent the pinnacle of hairdressing excellence.
The Hair Expo awards are judged by a panel of independent industry experts, with the final decision based on a number of factors. They include a photographic collection, the integrity of the individual, peer recognition, participation in industry activities, education, editorial and fashion related events, contribution to the advancement of the industry and in the case of some categories, the success of the business the entrants are a part of.
These unique awards take into account all aspects of hairdressing and help to promote consumer awareness of the high standards of excellence in the NZ and Australian hairdressing industry
Susa Wynne-Hoelscher, co-director of Hair Expo, commented on the finalists, “Our winners are an elite group who inspire hairdressers all over New Zealand and Australia to aim for the top. These awards are simply the highest accolade in the industry and as one of the longest running award programs in the hairdressing industry worldwide, they are recognised internationally as the benchmark local hairdressing.”
As the grand finale of the Hair Expo long weekend, winners of the Hair Expo Hairdressing Awards will be announced at a gala extravaganza at the Sydney Convention Centre on the evening of Monday 12 June - undoubtedly the hairdressing industry’s night of nights.
