Chairman and Deputy Chairman re-elected
Meat & Wool New Zealand’s Board has re-elected its Chairman, Jeff Grant and Deputy Chairman, Mike Petersen, for another year.
Mr Grant, a Southland farmer, has been chairman since the organisation’s inception in 2004, and Mr Petersen, a Hawke’s Bay farmer, was elected as deputy chairman in May 2005.
Both men said they are keen to lead the work of Meat & Wool New Zealand.
Mr Grant said next year will be the celebration of 125 years of the sheep meat industry in New Zealand. The wool industry has been part of New Zealand’s economy for 164 years.
“Hundred plus years on and the agriculture sector is still the engine room of the New Zealand economy. It’s an important industry to New Zealand. The growth rate of the sector has exceeded other sectors over the last 15 years.”
“Both Mike and I are pleased to have the confidence of our fellow directors to lead Meat & Wool New Zealand over the next 12 months.”
Mr Grant said he will be stepping down from the Chairman’s role at the end of the 12 months.
