Sky Satellite Service Restored
SKY’s satellite signal, lost at 6:50p.m. last night, has been restored and is again functioning normally. The service
interruption resulted from a routine repositioning of the Optus B1 satellite from which SKY broadcasts its signals.
SKY Television’s CEO, John Fellet said that an all-night effort to re-establish the satellite signal was achieved by
around 8am this morning.
“While it’s regrettable and unfortunate that we, and our customers, lost the satellite signal, it did prove that our
response plans were appropriate, robust and effective."
Mr Fellet said SKY values its customers and did not want to see them unnecessarily disadvantaged by the loss of service.
“In that respect we will credit our customer’s accounts for one day’s loss of service and this will be actioned during
the next billing period."
He said if any customer experienced difficulty getting their SKY service back up and running, they should call SKY
customer services for advice.
Mr Fellet said a formal debrief would now take place with a view to further improving response times and procedures.
