Rotorua Spa Makes Travellers’ Hot List
Rotorua tourism icon, Polynesian Spa, has been voted one of the world’s top10 medical and thermal spas for a third time by readers of the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller magazine.
The Rotorua spa complex slipped from seventh to tenth place in the list, but readers’ overall satisfaction with the spa increased to 88.9 per cent.
The Evian Royal Spa in France was voted the world’s top medical and thermal spa.
Polynesian Spa managing director Martin Lobb says making the top 10 three years in a row is an enormous honour.
“Our’s is the only spa in the southern hemisphere to make this year’s list. That, against competition from around the world, is a significant achievement.”
Condé Nast readers are invited to rate their favourite spa according to criteria that include ambience, body treatments, cuisine and service.
Polynesian Spa, situated on the edge of Lake Rotorua, has undergone major redevelopment in recent years. It offers 28 different hot mineral bathing pools and its Lake Spa Retreat offers unique spa therapies based on Rotorua’s renowned geothermal resource and natural New Zealand products.
Condé Nast readers voted New Zealand the world’s top destination in its 2005 Top Spots reader survey.
