New Zealand Radio Awards Finalists for 2006 Announced
A wonderful endorsement of the talent at The Radio Network in Christchurch.
That from TRN's Southern Regional general manager, Ross McRobie today following the announcement of the 2006 New Zealand
radio Awards.
NewstalkZB's morning host and Press columnist, Mike Yardley has been nominated in the Best Individual Talk Host category
with Auckland based NewstalkZB on air colleagues, Paul Holmes (Breakfast - Auckland based) and Leighton Smith (Mornings
- Auckland based).
Yardley, who has hosted the NewstalkZB 8.30am-midday slot for the past six years, says he is proud to be in such
esteemed company.
"Paul and Leighton are talented broadcasters and I feel honoured to be in the finals of the Best Individual Talk Host
category with them," he says.
Host of NewstalkZB's number one rating breakfast radio programme, John Dunne, has been nominated as Best Sport
Commentator. Dunne is in his 21st year of sports commentating, has been in radio for almost thirty years and has hosted
the breakfast programme in Christchurch, with Ken Ellis, for almost a decade.
Other finalists from The Radio Network (Christchurch) include Operations Manager Tim Dyer for Programmer of the Year;
Creative Writer Kelvin Crickett, who is a finalist in three different categories - Best Client Jingle, Client
Effectiveness, and Best Client Campaign.
The 2006 New Zealand Radio Awards will be held in Auckland on April 29th and will be attended by more than 800 people
from within the radio industry in New Zealand.
