Ford Unveils New Territory In Thailand
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 22 March 2006
New Zealand's award-winning Sports Utility Vehicle, the Ford Territory, will go on sale in Thailand next month.
"The decision by Ford Thailand to add Territory to their line-up is further proof this innovative model is a world class vehicle," said Ford New Zealand Territory Brand Manager Mr. Don Leong.
"Australian motor vehicle expertise is being recognised around the world and the export of Ford Territory to Thailand is testament to the quality of cars that are being built in Australia."
"Ford Thailand has opted for luxury and will sell the premium Territory model only – the range topping Ghia AWD."
On sale from May, the Thai-spec Territory will be sold standard with seven seats, Hill Descent Control, an alloy spare wheel and front and rear tow eyes.
"Ford Thailand was very interested in the development of Territory and last year displayed a Ghia version at the Bangkok International Motor Show," said Mr Leong.
"The response from show patrons was enthusiastic, with great feedback about the combination of SUV versatility and car-like dynamics."
Ford expects to sell about 120 Territorys in Thailand each year, adding to the profitability of Ford Australia and incremental sales of Territory.
Territory has been the best selling SUV in New Zealand and Australia since its launch in 2004 and has won numerous accolades including consecutive New Zealand AA Motoring Excellence Supreme and Crossover Awards (2005 and 2006) and Australian Wheels Magazine Car of the Year 2004.
