Nationwide recall of Pam's Flour
Foodstuffs Own Brands Ltd, the private label marketing arm of Foodstuffs New Zealand, has recalled all Pam's flour from its New World, PAK'nSAVE, Four Square, Write Price and On The Spot stores throughout New Zealand.
Foodstuffs (NZ) Ltd managing director Tony Carter says they have had reports of small pieces of metal in packets of flour manufactured for Pam's by Weston Milling in Christchurch.
"Three customers have reported finding pieces of metal in Pam's flour. Our paramount concern is our customers' safety, so we have removed the product from our stores. We would urge people who have recently bought Pam's flour to sieve it before use, and return any unopened product to the store where they bought it for a full refund."
The recall applies to all of the Pam's flour range, which comprises: plain flour, 1.5kg, 2.5 kg and 5 kg packets; high grade flour, 1.5kg and 5 kg packets; and self-raising, 1.5kg packets.
Mr Carter says customers can contact the Pam's customer service centre on 0800 245 114 with any queries.
"We have only had three reports of contamination, and we are not sure how it happened, but we do not want to take any chances, so are conducting a total product recall and are working with Auckland Regional Public Health," says Mr Carter.
He says Weston Milling is working to establish the cause of the contamination.
