McDonald's points out Union inaccuracies
McDonald's Restaurants (NZ) Ltd is strongly disputing a number of blatant inaccuracies made by Unite Union regarding the
company and its discussions with the union:
* McDonald's has offered a pay rise to its waged staff (both union and non-union members) that for the vast
majority of our staff is 5% or more.
* The offer to non-union staff (more than 90% of our staff) has been made as part of McDonald's obligation to
those staff members under their employment agreements to review their pay at this time of the year. The pay offer
proposal is currently subject to consultation with staff members and is not finalised.
* This proposed pay rise has been offered to union members through the bargaining process, but has not been
accepted by the union and bargaining continues.
* No final decision has been made yet about pay increases for either union or non-union staff.
"This is yet another example of the union misrepresenting McDonald's position - both in content and in context," says
Evelyn Gates, Director of Human Resources, McDonald's Restaurants (NZ) Ltd.
Ms Gates, herself a former McDonald's restaurant staff member, says: "McDonald's has chosen to bargain in good faith and
will continue to do so."
