SKYCITY Hamilton announces plans for new sports bar
A $2 million dedicated sports bar will further increase SKYCITY Hamilton's range of entertainment offerings for Hamilton and the Waikato region.
SKYCITY Hamilton General Manager David Christian says that the new bar, construction of which is due to start at the end of March, will be unlike anything currently on offer in Hamilton.
"This bar will offer a total sports bar experience to customers. The TV screens will be the key - ensuring that no matter where a customer is seated or standing they are able to view the various sporting events," he says.
Design of the bar is by leading NZ architect Tom Skyring who designed SKYCITY Auckland's 'dine' by Peter Gordon and Bar3. In September last year, 'dine' by Peter Gordon scooped up the highly coveted BeST Design Award - Interior.
David Christian says that the new bar will further enhance the range of entertainment options on offer at SKYCITY Hamilton - enabling the complex to provide the total entertainment experience under one roof.
"The new bar will complement SKYCITY Hamilton's sponsorships of the Chiefs and Waikato NPC team - positioning SKYCITY Hamilton as the 'home of Waikato sport'.
"The bar will profile all sports - so that Hamiltonians can be sure that if they want to watch any sport - from the rugby to cricket, from soccer to the Melbourne Cup - that they will be able to watch in at SKYCITY," says David.
The new bar is expected to open from late August to early September and will employ approximately 15 to 20 new members of staff. The total cost of the development is expected to be around $2 million.
