Kiwi Promoted to Key Role with Grey Global Group Asia Pacific
AUCKLAND – February 20, 2006 --- Mike Amour, Chairman & CEO/Asia Pacific, Grey Global Group, and Joe Celia, global President & CEO, Grey Synchronized Partners, jointly announced today the appointment of Peter Darroch as Regional Director, Grey
Synchronized Partners Asia Pacific, effective March 1st, 2006.
Grey Synchronized Partners (GSP) consists of Grey-owned companies G2 (brand experience, retail presence and consumer and
trade promotion, Grey Interactive (web design and e-commerce), Grey Relationship Marketing (CRM), Grey DirectInteractive
(one-to-one relationship marketing) as well as branding and design capabilities. These non-traditional communications as
they are known in the industry account for a rapidly increasing share of Grey Asia Pacific’s business.
Darroch is a leading, internationally experienced marketing communications specialist, who has built an outstanding
track record in delivering integrated communications strategies that build brands, businesses and bottom lines for
clients.
Since joining Grey as Chief Executive Officer, Grey Worldwide New Zealand in October 2001, Darroch has built up a
vibrant, multi-disciplinary business that is recognized internationally for its creative and strategic prowess and as a
result has spread its wings far beyond New Zealand, responsible for assignments from Beijing to Helsinki. The agency is
the Cannes 2003 Grand Prix winner and the recipient of more than 120 internal and local awards since that year.
“Peter has terrific experience across a range of communications businesses, including three years as Executive Vice
President at Rapp Collins in New York before joining Grey. We have very aggressive growth targets in Asia, so I am
thrilled to have Peter as a critical member of our regional team in leading this vital area of our business,” said
Amour.
In the first instance, Darroch will commute from Auckland to the eighteen countries that fall within his areas of
responsibility, but he will eventually relocate to Hong Kong.
Darroch will continue to maintain a close watch on Grey New Zealand until a successor is appointed; and Paul Gardner,
Chairman of Grey Global Group Australia, will become Chairman of Grey Global Group Australasia, bringing the NZ and
Australian operations much closer together and providing the Auckland-based agency with much improved access to the
resources across the ditch.
Darroch noted: “Paul and I will be personally involved in the selection of an appropriate CEO to carry on the legacy of
the past three years, a person who will treasure the unique character of Grey New Zealand but will add his or her own
special capabilities to the mix.
“One of the reasons I am willing and able to accept this new position is because the day-to-day functioning of the New
Zealand business has always rested in so many capable hands. I’m delighted that our clients’ interests remain as
well-protected as ever by our New Zealand team.”
Darroch will spend the next few weeks getting up to speed on his new range of responsibilities within the Asia-Pacific
region.
