Celebrating health & safety achievement
Entries close on Monday March 6 for the New Zealand Workplace Health & Safety Awards 2006, organised by Safeguard magazine with the support of the Department of Labour.
The winners will be announced at the awards dinner on April 5 at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau,
which coincides with Worksafe Expo 2006, a two-day exhibition of health & safety products and services which is free to the public.
This year’s awards celebrate health & safety initiatives that took place during 2005.

Last year’s inaugural awards produced an inspiring bunch of entries which culminated in a hugely enjoyable awards
dinner.
”There is a tremendous amount of effort going on to prevent injury and ill health at work all around the country,” says
Safeguard editor Peter Bateman. “Entering these awards enables that good work to be recognised and celebrated.”
Health and safety, he says, usually only surfaces in the media following a death or injury at work. But behind the
scenes there are many dedicated people working to prevent injuries and illness, and organisations which recognise that
successfully managing health and safety boosts productivity, enhances product quality, and lifts morale.
"Despite the occasional headlines, we shouldn't forget that workplace health and safety is actually a good news story."
