TV2 Ratings Hit 30 Month High
TV2's new season launch is a spectacular success and is driving the best viewing numbers for the channel in years.
Last week (Monday February 6 – Sunday February 12) TV2 achieved a 37.8 share in its target demographic of 18-39 year olds. This is the highest weekly peak share since the beginning of July 2003.
In addition the new season launch is achieving audience and share highs across a range of trading demographics. The key 'Household Shopper' demographic achieved an average 13.9 rating (also near two year high levels), and the hard-to-find male 18-39 audience was particularly strong.
The majority of TV2's 17 new programmes launched strongly. The high ratings were led by the expected hits such as 'Shortland Street,' 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Lost,' but also by programmes including 'The OC,' 'Invasion,' 'Commander in Chief,' 'Criminal Minds,' 'Ghost Whisperer' and 'Greys Anatomy.'
New Zealand programmes are playing a key part of the channel's success, with Shortland Street achieving a 39 week high with a 19.1 TARP average. New shows have also been a hit with 'Shock Treatment' achieving a 38.9% share in the target 18 – 39 demographic and 'Redemption Hill' achieving an impressive 44.3% share. Returning favourites 'Mitre 10 Dream Home' achieved a 49.5% share, 'Police Ten 7' a 35.4% share and 'Motorway Patrol' a 40.1% share.
