Broadband Upgrade – A Matter Of Urgency
Any lingering doubt that New Zealand needs urgent action to establish a globally competitive Broadband upgrade “to
enable New Zealand’s productivity, growth and economic transformation” should now be removed as a result of the Prime
Minister Helen Clark’s Address to Parliament today.
Michael Barnett, chief executive of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce noted that her address highlighted the extent that
New Zealand is lagging behind internationally on many broadband indicators.
Upgrading Broadband is about accessibility and pricing for business which will result in investment, jobs and a larger
tier of globally competitive businesses.
Now that Government has accepted the case for Broadband reform, little time should be lost in following through with the
required action.
