Silent One Implemented At Ministry For The Environment
Wellington knowledge management software company, Silent One Ltd, has completed a deal with the Ministry for the Environment to control the key government agency's document management.
All of the Ministry's 250 staff now have access to Silent One's electronic document management system.
The Ministry is the Government's principal adviser on the New Zealand environment and international matters which affect the environment. The Ministry works with others in central and local government, industry and the community to achieve good environmental governance and decision-making at all levels. This means the Ministry relies heavily on its document centric systems.
Manager, Information Management, Steve Botica says "Silent One was an excellent choice for the Ministry given our complex requirements. With SilentOne being developed and supported locally, it meant we could easily get changes made to the software to meet our needs. The support we have received from Silent One has been first-class."
The Ministry selected SilentOne as a major tool to help achieve compliance with the new Public Records Act. "It is critical for government agencies to meet the new standards in the Act and implementing SilentOne is a key step for us" says Mr Botica.
Silent One Chief Executive, Peter Yarrall says the contract represents a significant achievement for the New Zealand owned company.
"The Ministry for the Environment is a well respected Government organisation and we are delighted to be working with them to improve their knowledge management system."
"The government sector is a competitive market and whilst we already have a number of government clients, this installation gives another strong endorsement for our totally New Zealand developed product," says Mr Yarrall.
Ministry staff were given extensive training in SilentOne to ensure the Ministry uses the document management solution to its full potential.
SilentOne provides the ability to have a managed repository of electronic and paper documents, with full version control, rich metadata, document-level security, workflow and lifecycle management.
The SilentOne software integrates with Microsoft Office, enabling users to create, share and manage documents from within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and Outlook. The design of the product provides for easy integration with third party applications. Full web access is also provided.
Silent One Ltd has also developed a cross-platform EDMS solution written predominately in Java that runs independently in Netware, Linux and Unix environments.
Silent One Ltd is a NZ owned privately held company, which has been in business for seven years so understands the constant pressures and demands on organisations to have accurate management of their documentation.
