Interislander’s new coffee a hit!
Temperatures so far this summer may have been some of the hottest on record, but it hasn’t stopped passengers on
Interislander ferries reaching for a nice, hot cup of coffee.
38,722 cups of coffee were drunk by passengers travelling across Cook Strait over December, including 24,444 espresso.
This is 1,249 cups of coffee per day.
Interislander signed a supply agreement with national coffee provider Café Express in July, as part of a new initiative
to revamp its onboard food and beverage offering. Brands such as Robert Harris coffee and Dilmah Team are now available
to passengers travelling across Cook Strait
Interislander Passenger Services Delivery Manager, Ray Wolff, said that Interislander has noticed a big difference in
demand for coffee onboard over the last six months.
“Sales of coffee have noticeably increased during this time and passengers now comment on the quality of coffee
available onboard,” said Ray.
Grinders and other coffee-making equipment are part of the agreement, with Café Express providing onboard services staff
training up to barista national standard.
