Connex Auckland to adopt new shared identity of parent company, Veolia Environnement, world leader in environmental solutions
Connex Auckland, operator of Auckland's passenger rail network, is part of the transportation division of Veolia Environnement – the global environmental company which has become a world leader in environmental solutions with over 250,000 employees in 65 different countries. From March 1, 2006, Connex will adopt a new brand identity and become known as Veolia Transport Auckland.
With Veolia's steady growth in four business sectors—water, waste management, energy and transportation— the synergy of its training and research resources is now a central component of its strategy. Veolia is strengthening its global network by bringing all its divisions under one shared name
The four current global Veolia brands (Veolia Water, Onyx, Dalkia and Connex) will now be called Veolia Water, Veolia Environmental Services, Veolia Energy and Veolia Transport. Brand identities will be launched around the world throughout 2006.
Connex Auckland has been working in partnership with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) and regional transport partners to improve the delivery of rail services on Auckland's passenger rail network. Since taking over operations in August of 2004, rail services have increased, including the introduction of Sunday services and late-night Friday and Saturday services, and performance across the network has improved.
Connex Auckland General Manager Chris White says "Connex has brought unique technical skills from around the world to the Auckland business to assist ARTA in the development of rail services. We look forward to strengthening Veolia Environnement's global identity and shared corporate culture, and confirm the commitment of each of our employees to our service values," he says. "We believe our international experience and global networks will continue to have a positive impact on the future of rail services in Auckland."
The new identity, Veolia Transport, as a replacement for Connex Auckland, will take effect on March 1, 2006 and will be included on staff uniforms, websites, email addresses and on all company-related documentation. This change will have no contractual impact, nor will it affect the organization of our teams. "It's business as usual," says Mr White. "Staff will have changes to their uniform, but there will be no changes whatsoever to the operation of services."
Veolia Transport is one of the world's leading private operators in the passenger transport sector, providing urban, suburban, inter-city and regional passenger services on buses, trains, trams and ferries. Operating in 25 countries around the world, Veolia Transport carries over 2 billion passengers to their destinations every year. As a rail operator, Veolia Transport has 25 rail businesses in nine countries. Veolia Transport specializes in the delegated management of public transport services; working on behalf of over 5000 local, regional and national government authorities around the world.
Veolia Transport Australia is the largest private land transport provider in Australasia operating the suburban rail network in Melbourne; monorail, light rail and buses in Sydney and buses in Brisbane and Perth.
