Jack Links Statement
Jack Links New Zealand Ltd said today that the only Government assistance it had received was $40,000 (including gst) from Investment New Zealand.
The company’s chief executive John Corner said claims it had received $500,000 were incorrect.
“The only assistance we received was $40,000 from Investment New Zealand which was solely for the initial investigation into bringing the company to New Zealand.”
Mr Corner said training of staff was carried out in conjunction with Skill New Zealand and WINZ. “That help is available to anyone who is long-term unemployed.”
Jack Links NZ Ltd announced yesterday it was making about 100 people redundant as a direct result of the high New Zealand dollar impacting on its bulk manufacturing business. It is retaining about 50 staff in the growing retail arm of its business.
