Discover New Zealand your own way
Planning the ultimate independent holiday just got easier with the launch of the 2006 travel brochure from Discover New Zealand.
The New Zealand Independent Holidays brochure, which includes a number of new packages this year, is designed for those people who prefer to travel independently without the structure of a group tour. By presenting choices for different elements of the trip and booking itineraries in advance, it offers the client a hassle-free, yet individual holiday.
Travellers can choose to either hire self-drive vehicles with Maui or Avis Rentals, or travel by coach with luxury Great Sights tours. They then select their preferred grade of accommodation (standard, quality or superior). For each package, admission to a number of attractions is included in the price, but the itinerary can be tailored to suit each client. Extra nights can also be added to make the trip more flexible.
Packages range from beach escapes to the Bay of Islands and geyserland trips in Rotorua, to tours of the Milford Sound and glacier hikes in the South Island. Travellers can also combine more than one trip, creating a tailor-made travel experience that incorporates different and diverse areas of New Zealand.
A new feature for this year’s brochure is the Special Interest Self Drive Tours, which offers two themed itineraries – one on nature and one on food and wine. The Nature tours offer the chance to view rare species of seal and dolphins, as well as the native Kiwi bird and a whole host of other wildlife. The Food and Wine tour is based around visits to some of New Zealand’s best vineyards, allowing foodies to sample excellent wines, as well as delectable local delicacies like Bluff oysters and Canterbury lamb.
Michelle Johnson of Discover New Zealand, which is owned by Tourism Holdings Limited said: “Creating a flexible holiday is what many travellers crave these days, but the time-consuming organisation of a bespoke trip can put people off. Discover New Zealand Independent Holidays allows our clients the freedom to plan their trip the way they want to, but without all the hard work that goes with it!”
The Discover New Zealand Independent Holidays brochure is available nationwide via travel agents and local i-sites and is valid until 30 September 2006. For more information on Discover New Zealand, go to www.discovernewzealand.com
