Record Breaking Summer for Kawarau Jet
Kawarau Jet, Queenstown’s longest running jetboat company and the world’s first commercial jetboat operation, is
operating at full strength during a busy summer holiday season that looks likely to break company records.
Offering a breathtaking, hour long jetboat experience on Lake Wakatipu and the Kawarau and Shotover Rivers, Kawarau
Jet’s fleet of 8 boats is capable of moving 120 people an hour.
Co-director Andrew Brinsley says the popular jetboat trip is in unprecedented demand this summer.
“Hundreds of people from all over the world are enjoying the Kawarau Jet experience every day. Our crew has responded
extremely positively to the increased numbers and increased demand for our product.”
Kawarau Jet pioneered the twin engine technology that powers its fleet in 1995. That technology has been proven over ten
years of continuous, reliable operation and is now an industry benchmark.
“Kawarau Jet has a race department that is passionate about every aspect of jetboating. The race department has come up
with many firsts and has been responsible for many innovative developments over the years,” says Mr Brinsley. “That
passion has resulted in fantastic systems and extremely advanced maintenance and research programmes that are now
entrenched as part of our company culture.”
Driven by more than 40 years of passion, Kawarau Jet is a Queenstown owned and operated business. Shaun and Sally Kelly
run the operation along with Queenstown business partners Andrew Brinsley and John Martin. An enduring tradition of
customer focus and innovation has kept the company at the forefront of the New Zealand tourism industry for the past 46
years.
