Union Member Lays Assault Complaint Against SkyCity General Manager
It only gets worse. SFWU understands that SkyCity Hamilton’s General Manager, David Christian, physically manhandled a SFWU Delegate while telling him to remove a Delegate Badge, the wearing of which was previously approved by SkyCity management. The Delegate has laid a complaint with the Police, which we understand is currently being investigated.
If this incident had been the other way round, SkyCity would probably have sacked our union member on the spot. The Service and Food Workers Union believes this incident is another example of SkyCity’s attitude towards staff when they stand together and take lawful industrial action.
Service and Food Workers Union members at SkyCity are taking further industrial action tonight at 6pm in pursuit of wage parity with their Auckland colleagues doing exactly the same work. This action coincides with the opening of SkyCity’s poker tables.
