Telecom’s Mobile Network Gears Up For The Holiday Season
Telecom is investing about $1.7 million in additional temporary mobile coverage to meet the demand at New Zealand’s favourite holiday spots this summer.
“We have great coverage in most holiday spots thanks to our year-round coverage expansion programme, but we like to make sure as many holiday-makers as possible have access to our T3G services,” says Telecom Mobile General Manager Kevin Kenrick.
“During summer you’re hardly ever in front of the TV at 6pm, so you can keep up to date with news, sports, entertainment and weather with Telecom Video Clips, straight to your mobile.
“And Xtra Mobile Alerts let you know where the surf is good, or where the traffic is bad – making it easy for you to get the best out of your holiday.
“You can also enjoy other T3G services, including Push 2 Talk, photo and video messaging, caller tunes, ring tones, and Song ID right across New Zealand.”
For those who can’t quite sever ties with the office, Kenrick says Telecom ’s 3G Mobile Broadband makes it super-fast to work remotely.
“By Christmas we will have taken 3G Mobile Broadband to every main town and city in New Zealand – including popular holiday spots like Wanaka, the Bay of Islands, Mt Maunganui and Rotorua,” Mr Kenrick said.
The extra mobile sites and increased capacity will cover the Christmas and New Year period and be removed in late January and early February.
