Discover natural beauty in the city
Auckland city has over 800 parks and walkways, and with summer on the way, it is time to put away your city soles and
don the walking shoes to discover the natural pleasures our open living spaces have to offer.
Auckland City has developed a 'walkers guide' for both urban and island adventures that allows residents and visitors
alike to see some of the scenic delights the city has to offer. The guides are available either online at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/walkways or in a brochure format.
"Auckland City has so much to offer and these guides detail different places to discover and new spaces to explore with
the kids plus places to get active exercising the dog, or to just unwind and stroll amongst the beautiful scenery," says
Jacqui Dyer, Auckland City's parks manager.
"If people want to venture a little farther, Waiheke Island is only 40 minutes from central Auckland and with walking
times ranging from a 15 minute stroll to a good two hour walk there is something for everyone.
"The island has so much to offer and the walkways are the perfect excuse to explore the native bush and spectacular
coastal scenery. Take in stunning views from the Coromandel to the Sky Tower, while also discovering the shops, great
cafes, vineyards and beaches," say Ms Dyer.
Auckland City has developed surveys to enable visitors to have their say on our walkways and parks, so please take the
time to comment about your experiences.
