Fairfax NZ has appointed Andrew Boyle as General Manager, Waikato Region, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Joan
Withers, announced today.
Andrew Boyle, currently General Manager of the APN group’s Hawkes Bay Newspapers, will succeed Sue McPherson in the
Hamilton-based role.
``The Waikato business is a pivotal part of Fairfax NZ’s plans and we are very pleased that Andrew has decided to join
us in this key position,’’ Joan Withers said.
``The Waikato division encompasses a leading metropolitan daily in the Waikato Times, plus a stable of community
newspapers across a large region, comprising a significant slice of our newspaper business in this country. It is a
region with an exciting future and we welcome the addition of Andrew’s skills to the Fairfax senior management team.’’

He said: ``I am delighted to be given the opportunity to head up Fairfax Waikato. It is an important region and an
important time for our publishing and printing interests.
``The Waikato Times has a proud history and Fairfax Waikato is a successful business thanks to the talents and efforts
of staff and management. Working with these people, and for our customers, I hope that we will take full advantage of
the key opportunities available to us.’’
It has been previously announced that due to personal circumstances, Sue McPherson would leave the Waikato role early in
2006. Dates for the management changes are yet to be finalised.
