New 027 Coverage In Kaiteriteri
Telecom is investing $500,000 to bring improvements to 027 mobile coverage in Kaiteriteri.
The increased coverage will benefit local residents and businesses, as well as the many tourists who visit the area.
Telecom Acquisition Project Manager Kellie Ralfe said the new site is being established in response to interest from the local Kaiteriteri community.
Construction work is set to start this week and the site should be up and running by Christmas.
A temporary mobile site was removed from the Kaiteriteri camp ground earlier this year. The temporary equipment had been in place for more than two years while Telecom looked unsuccessfully for suitable property on which to build a permanent site.
”We then got a lot of feedback from locals who wanted coverage, so we re-opened the search for a property for a mobile site”, Ms Ralfe said.
In conjunction with the Tasman District Council and the Kaiteriteri Recreational Reserve Board (KRRB), Telecom found a site on reserve land on a hill known as the “ridgeline”. As part of the resource consent process for this site Telecom has obtained the written consent of the KRRB, Department of Conservation and local Iwi.
“Telecom wants to thank the residents and businesses of Kaiteriteri, the Council and KRRB for their support throughout this process.
We hope our customers will be pleased with the improved coverage the new site will bring to this area,” Ms Ralfe said.
