Tourism Holdings Welcomes Rugby World Cup News
News of the successful bid to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup was welcomed today by New Zealand’s leading tourism
operator, Tourism Holdings Limited (THL), which also confirmed it received the first inquiries today for bookings.
Hosting the World Cup would be a boon for business, just as the DHL Lions Series rugby tour this year had been, said THL
Rentals Division General Manager, Sue Sullivan.
THL rolled out the red carpet for the visiting British and Irish rugby supporters, providing them with more than 1,000
Maui motorhomes and Britz campervans and 80-plus coaches under its Johnston’s Coachlines and Kiwi Experience operations.
“It was a privilege to be involved with the Lions fans,” Ms Sullivan said. “They were amiable customers out to enjoy
themselves and to see New Zealand as well as support their team. We know that a number of them will be back for the
World Cup and we will warmly welcome them along with the many thousands of other fans that will come from other rugby
nations around the world.”
THL also had the pleasure of being the official coach line for both the All Blacks and the Lions teams, working closely
with the New Zealand Rugby Union, and looks forward to the prospect of being involved with the teams again in 2011.
Added to this many of the fans were customers of many of THL’s other operations, including Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater
World and Antarctic Encounter in Auckland, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Fullers Bay of Islands and Milford Sound Red Boat
Cruises.
