APN Acquires Netcheck
APN News & Media announced today it has acquired Netcheck, the second largest employment website in Auckland, New Zealand as part of the company's continuing development of its online media capabilities.
The acquisition will allow Netcheck to be integrated into a new, ground-breaking job website to be known as search4jobs.co.nz, which will bring together the employment websites of The New Zealand Herald, APN's regional newspapers across New Zealand and Netcheck.
The chief executive officer of APN News & Media, Brendan Hopkins, said the search4jobs site would provide a single digital offering for employment services, with a clear strategy to become the number one employment website in New Zealand.
"This acquisition and the launch of search4jobs is part of APN's continuing development of digital offerings and services across our products in New Zealand," Mr Hopkins said.
"We expect the new employment site to lead the way by linking the services we already provide through The New Zealand Herald and the regional publications with our expanded online presence."
Until now, Netcheck was owned by The Radio Network (TRN), but the acquisition will see the website owned wholly by APN News & Media, which jointly owns TRN with Clear Channel Communications.
The general manager of Netcheck, Malcolm Allan, said the acquisition and integration of Netcheck into search4jobs would result in an online employment service that would be bigger, smarter and quicker.
Mr Allan said the site would complement other online classified services offered by APN News & Media, such as the recently-launched property website search4homes.
He said Netcheck's employees would not be affected by the APN acquisition, and existing arrangements with TRN would remain in place.
