AB Signed Ford Bonnet Raising Money to Help Kiwi Kids
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 16 November 2005
As the All Blacks prepare for their game against England this weekend, rugby fans and Ford enthusiasts have an
opportunity to buy a unique BF Ford Falcon bonnet signed by the team.
The much sought-after bonnet is being auctioned by Variety on the Radio Sport website (www.radiosport.co.nz) to raise
money for Variety - The Children's Charity and has reached $1750 only days into the auction.
On the eve of the All Blacks' tour of the United Kingdom, Ford New Zealand announced it had renewed its sponsorship with
the New Zealand Rugby Union for a further three years.
To celebrate the sponsorship renewal, Ford farewelled the team as it departed for its Grand Slam tour with a brand-new
BF Falcon, the bonnet of which was signed by every All Black player and then donated to Ford New Zealand’s charity,
Variety, who will use funds raised for its 'Kids on the Move' programme.
"Ford has been involved with the All Blacks since 1994, supporting them through thick and thin, and we are delighted
that this association can also support one of our other partners, Variety - The Children's Charity," said Ford
Sponsorship Manager, Mrs Jen Ingleby.
“The one-of-a-kind bonnet will make a great feature in sporting clubs, pubs, restaurants or cafes, corporate foyers or
even in a keen sports fan’s games room. If someone has a BF Falcon of the same make they could even put the signed
bonnet on their own car,” she says.
CEO of Variety, Lorraine Taylor is also enthusiastic about the interest the bonnet has already generated.
“We are extremely grateful to Ford for the kind donation of the bonnet to Variety and hope that All Black fans and Ford
enthusiasts will embrace the chance to own this special item and help children at the same time,” she says.
The bonnet will be on display in the foyer at SKYCITY in Auckland until the end of the auction on Friday 25 November.
Variety’s “Kids on the Move” mobility programme, which incorporates the “Bikes for Kids” Roadshow (gifting 800 bikes to
kids nationwide Nov 12 – Dec 3), provides life enriching assistance to children with physical restrictions. Each year
Variety provides hundreds of children with much needed equipment including wheelchairs, specialised trikes, mobilised
scooters and special chairs.
