BP Ultimate Big Boys Toys Has Something For Everyone!
>From fishing boats, robots and jet-skis to mountain bikes, mini-choppers and golf simulators, BP Ultimate Big Boys Toys 2005 has it all. "The Showgrounds are absolutely jam-packed with exhibits this year," says the event's marketing manager, Rob Eliott. "After nine years, Big Boys Toys is truly a juggernaut of a show!"
The Woosh Wireless Best of Kiwi Pavilion hosts some kiwi firsts such as the Flyte, a prototype outrigger fishing kayak; the Anaconda, a 1:6 scale model of rugged amphibious craft; and the PSV Sports Car, a 1:6 scale model of a hybrid two-door car! There's the Durt Thumper, too - a prototype man-powered off-road dirt-board!
Along with the Zego double-hulled watercraft, there's a range of top-notch marine exhibits at BP Ultimate Big Boys Toys this year, including the latest in launch design - the SeaBandit. Featuring a full walk-around cockpit and side deck, with steps leading up to a fisherman-friendly foredeck, the SeaBandit also has twin 275hp supercharged outboards!
It doesn't stop there for the keen boaties, though, as the New Zealand Herald and BP Ultimate Big Boys Toys have put together the Moorings Tonga sailing trip competition. Herald readers simply have to bring coupons from the paper to the Herald stand at the show and they'll go into the draw for a week-long sailing trip for four in Tonga!
Miada Sport is bringing an original General Lee car from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show and giving kids a chance to win a ride and a picture with the car. It's a genuine 1969 Dodge Charger, so it might not be all kids looking for a photo in this dream machine! Those who like their vehicles a little smaller, however, will get a buzz out of the Australasian Radio Controlled Meet and Trans-Tasman challenge with vehicles capable of over 100km/h. Wynn's will also have their latest driver simulator on show and the fastest wannabe Bathurst driver over the three days will win a cracker Wynn's Racing kit.
Surprise highlights include New Zealand Warriors' Richard Villasante, who'll be appearing on the Silver Fern Imports stand in Hall One signing autographs from 10am till 1pm on Saturday; and Charley Boorman, actor and co-star with Ewan McGregor in the Long Way Round, who'll be appearing on the BMW motorbikes stand in Hall Six from 6-8pm on Friday and 1-3pm on Saturday.
BP Ultimate Big Boys Toys is also the venue for the launch of an exciting new concept in golf course mobility - the Golf Cruiser. "After testing and evaluation on our undulating and spectacular golf course, I can thoroughly endorse the funky and inspiring concept of the Golf Cruiser," says Pupuke Golf Club General Manager Stephen Dally. "The interest has been amazing and is certainly a hot topic on our golf course!"
The Arena will be all go this year, with the Jim Beam freestyle motocross team (and Chucky Norris) soaring over the crowds, pulling the Catwalk, the Superman and the odd Heart Attack among other tricks! There'll also be professional sport bike stunt riding, with Asphalt Assault pulling burn-outs, stoppies and wheelies like you've never seen before. Other features include the Mr and Ms Fitness, and Miada Strongman competitions - the latter involving car lifting, a truck-pull and a range of superhuman feats of strength and commitment.
The 9th annual BP Ultimate Big Boys Toys returns to the Auckland Showgrounds in Greenlane from November 11th to November 13th - an event not to be missed.
