Can’t find a Plumber when you need one?
Well next May that may be the case when hundreds of plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers converge on Wellington for
UpSkill 2006 a new generation of annual conference for the industry.
Hosted by Wellington Master Plumbers & Gasfitters Association on behalf of the Master Plumbers national body, UpSkill 2006 will contain the traditional AGM
alongside the 105th Annual Conference business and is complemented with a series of vibrant social functions and a
strong partners programme highlighting the capital.
UpSkill 2006 doesn’t stop there.
The industries leading manufacturers, distributors and service providers are also headed towards the Wellington Town
Hall venue to participate in a three day trade show which will not only be available to the delegates, members and
non-members in the industry but will also open to the building and construction industries, trade organisations and to
education institutions and students from the city’s secondary schools.
Speaking for the local association at the recent Regional Conference Meeting, Robert Christenhusz presented details of
the new style of programme and incentive that UpSkill was introducing.
Mr Christenhusz said, “Our annual conference must be both functional, deliver tangible results for all attending and
participating and must be entertaining and enjoyable as well.” “It is our duty not only to retain and encourage
membership but to stimulate new people into the organisation at a time when legislation is demanding a higher level of
responsibility in our trade.”
The UpSkill 2006 title has been introduced to promote the newest element for the conference, a convenient one stop shop
for Registered and Craftsmen Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers to gain the “credits” they are required to obtain
annually under legislation for their licences to practice.
“UpSkill Knowledge is a great way for members and non-members to get a number of these ‘credits’ in one hit” said Mr.
Christenhusz , “and experience a broad range of workshops and seminars as well as visit with our trade exhibitors.”
