PRESS RELEASE
Queenstown’s Azur Lodge a Winner - Again
Although barely a year old Queenstown’s Azur Lodge has an impressive list of accolades to its name.
The most recent coup is winning the New Zealand Trends magazine Commercial Design hospitality award. This follows being named first on the list of the ‘World’s Best 15 to watch’ in the US based Travel & Leisure magazine and making the ‘Luxe List 2005’ in DestinAsian magazine as one of Asia-Pacific’s top new properties.
“We’re delighted to receive unsolicited recognition, especially being ranked among such leading international hotels brands as Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Hyatt and Raffles,” says Anthony Ross, Azur co-owner. “For being open barely a year we’re more than pleased.
“The big international hotels have a lot of money behind them and huge corporate support offices, we’re just two guys that have gone out and done it. To be recognised on this scale is fantastic.”
A Travel & Leisure writer also recently stayed at the luxury lodge and praised the lodge’s accommodation and its service in an article in the magazine. He was particularly impressed by the lengths staff are prepared to go to satisfy guests including – hunting down hokey-pokey ice-cream; hydroponic lettuce on Christmas day and persuading a farmer to let heli-skiiers onto his property by paying him in Mount Gay rum.
Azur has nine villas that cascade down the hillside on the outskirts of Queenstown, all with fantastic views. One of Azur’s drawcards is its close proximity to town, stylishly done without sacrificing any tranquillity or privacy.
“Azur is a five minute drive from town yet you feel as if you’re in a remote corner of New Zealand once you’re here. Each of the spacious 75sqm villas stands alone surrounded by native bush and offering stunning lake and mountain views. All the villas have a private secluded balcony so guests can sit outside and enjoy the tranquillity and beauty,” Mr Ross says.
“Being near to town means that if guests want to dine in town they can and they are also close to all the activities and action Queenstown is renowned for. On the other hand if guests want peace and tranquillity they can stay at the lodge and relax.”
