Vodafone And EA Blow the Whistle on New Mobile Games
Vodafone and Electronic Arts (EA) have teamed up to bring a whole new line up of popular console and PC games to Vodafone live!, the first available from today which will see soccer fans dribbling on their mobiles.
EA Sports’ FIFA™ 2006, the well-known soccer game, is now available exclusively to Vodafone live! customers. It is one of four well-known EA console titles announced today including Need for Speed™ Most Wanted 3D, The Sims™ 2, Tiger Woods™ 2006 that will be available on Vodafone live! before the end of January 2006. A further 15-20 EA games will be added before the end of 2006.
Vodafone General Manager of Infotainment Kieren Cooney, says that bringing titles such as FIFA™ 2006 to the mobile is really exciting because you can now play your favourite console style games no matter where you are.
“EA is one of the biggest players in the market and we’re pleased to be working with them to bring Vodafone customers a new level of mobile gaming experience and unrivalled content,” says Cooney.
“Mobile gaming is one of our core multimedia services and its appeal continues to grow amongst our customers,” says Cooney.
Mike Wynands, EA New Zealand General Manager, says bringing popular franchise games such as The Sims™ 2 to the mobile is a significant opportunity for EA.
"The mobile phone as an interactive gaming platform is exciting territory and a significant opportunity for EA. As market leader in interactive entertainment, we are pleased to be partnering with Vodafone to provide consumers with a fresh game experience and broad access to our popular titles."
FIFA™ 2006 makes a return to the mobile playing field with a more polished performance including 32 FIFA international teams to choose from, optimised graphics such as a broadcast quality scoreboard and clock, and voiceover commentary. Players will also get a buzz from the vibrating feature which comes into play when a shot bounces off the goal post.
In November Vodafone customers with 3D capable handsets will be able to burn rubber on their mobile with Need for Speed™ Most Wanted 3D. Available only on Vodafone, it’s a game for speed demons who like to soup up their cars. Players can give their cars visual and performance upgrades and must manage their reputation to become the most notorious and elusive street racer.
The Sims™ 2 joins the family in December and brings the compelling experience of the number one PC game to your Vodafone mobile. Get your fix any time any where and manage the life, motives and mood of your Sims characters in authentic Sims-style.
Tiger Woods™ 2006 tees off in January 2006 so golf enthusiasts can play as the legend himself or other PGA legends. Features include a vibration mode for nerve-wracking pressure shots, and a dynamic camera movement showing top-down, third person and ball-in-flight action angles.
It will cost $7 to download the FIFA™ 2006 game from Vodafone live!.
