SENIORS MARKET GROWING
New Zealand Seniors Card, launched in early 2004, has reached 20,000 members, as more people over 55 discover the
savings that can be made at businesses throughout the country.
Kay Tamaki, of Christchurch, is Seniors Card’s 20,000th member and was presented with an arrangement of flowers along
with a 5-year membership card by Seniors Card general manager, Chris Herron. Kay joined Seniors Card after hearing about
it from a friend and is looking forward to using her card and the new 164 page member guide.
“More and more businesses are recognizing the market and targeting mature consumers through the Seniors Card programme”
stated Mr Herron.
“We have enlisted the support of over 2,500 businesses both in New Zealand and Australia, which give members a discount
or special benefit.”

Seniors Card members can make substantial savings on accommodation as well as on tours, coaches, cruises, scenic
flights, car hire, tourist attractions, shopping, professional services, optometrists, pharmacies, home improvements and
eating out. There are no costs for businesses to join.
Some of the most popular offers include up to 30% discount on the Interisland Ferry, 20% discount on premium paint and
wallpaper at Resene, 10 to 20% off at gift shops and jewellers, up to 20% off new tyres, up to $300 off mobility
scooters, 10% off new cars and up to 20% off InterCity Coachlines.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 55, regardless of whether they are retired or still working. Cost of a
