Carter Holt Harvey overreacting says CTU
The Council of Trade Unions has condemned the overreaction by Carter Holt Harvey in sending police wagons to meet union negotiating teams at their laminated veneer plant yesterday.
“This was an overreaction by the Police and Carter Holt Harvey, to a positive move from the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union to return to the negotiating table,” said Ross Wilson, CTU President. “The union was there at the invitation of the company, and this wasn’t a helpful move for Carter Holt Harvey to have taken.”
“The CTU backs the 5% claim from the workers in Whangarei, and we urge Carter Holt Harvey and its new owners to get real about the modest increase that 5% represents,” said Ross Wilson.
