Glassons Scout For Young Designer For Next Bcrt T-Shirt Campaign
A young talented student will this year have the chance to create one of the Glassons BCRT T-shirts for the 2006 campaign and contribute to a future free of breast cancer.
The T-shirt, from an emerging talent, will join an all-star line up of designs from top local fashion houses Huffer, Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, Nom D, Trelise Cooper and Zambesi.
This year’s designers will judge the nationwide competition for students with the winning design being manufactured on a large scale and sold through Glassons outlets nationwide. The competition winner will also get to spend a day with one of the designers.
The Glassons BCRT T-shirts retail for $29.95 and, as in previous years, $10 from each sale goes to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Trust.
“For one young designer it is the opportunity of a lifetime as their creation will be worn by hundreds of girls and women around New Zealand,” says Cliff Kinraid, Group Managing Director of Glassons.
“At the same time, we hope the competition will raise awareness and change perceptions for breast cancer among younger women by communicating the message that it is a disease that can affect all women regardless of age.”
Entry forms will be available through education institutes nationwide for art and design students aged 13 and over. The competition closes at 5pm on Friday 28 October 2005 with the winner being announced on Friday 4 November 2005.
Each year, sales of the designer T-shirts raise well over half a million dollars for research into breast cancer in New Zealand. At least one in every ten women in New Zealand will lose their life prematurely to breast cancer, while one in every 30 women will have the disease before they reach thirty-five years of age.
