Dunedin Man Wins $100,000 On Lotto’s Winning Wheel
Murray Leonard, from Dunedin, won $100,000 live on television when he spun Lotto’s Winning Wheel on Saturday night, says New Zealand Lotteries Commission (NZ Lotteries) Chief Executive Trevor Hall.
Mr Leonard said that winning $100,000 was great.
“It’s a real bonus. We have been playing for years, and it’s nice to get something back,” he said.
Mr Leonard, who is an LPG serviceman, had his wife Robyn with him at the televised draw. He said they planned to pay their mortgage off with the prize.
“This means goodbye mortgage for us. We might finish off the kitchen and get a new roof too,” he said.
“The weekend has been an experience I’ll never forget.”
Mr Leonard is a regular Lotto player. He bought the winning ticket at Green Island Milkbar in Dunedin.
All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto’s Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Mr Hall said winning tickets are identified by the serial number at the bottom right of every Lotto ticket. Players can check their ticket at any Lotto store.
This weekend’s lucky Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Ngarawahia New World in Ngarawahia and the serial number is 039 50771717 20XX.
