Woosh Rings Up Phone Services
Woosh Wireless today announced it has signed up 500 new phone customers within the first two weeks of the launch of the
service in mid-September.
Woosh Chief Executive Bob Smith says phone customers have rung up 65,000 call minutes in the two weeks since the launch,
in calls to nearly every country in the world.
“We have been inundated with interest from people either keen to sign up for the phone service, or to find out when
coverage will extend to their area,” he says.
“We are already significantly ahead of our expected new customer numbers and have considerable advance demand from
people not yet within coverage.
“Most pleasing of all is that phone customers are enjoying a service that is of consistent quality and reliability.”
Mr Smith says Woosh’s launch of phone services over its 3G broadband wireless network is at the forefront of a global
trend towards voice over IP and is clearly attractive to customers keen to save on their phone bills.
Woosh offers free local calls to all customers, whether households or small businesses. Phone connections are available
from $20 per month on top of its broadband plans and all national calls and international calls to 35 destinations cost
a flat rate of 10 cents per minute.
The phone service is being progressively rolled out through Auckland, with Wellington, Christchurch and Southland
following in the next few months.
