New website to change the face of gift purchasing
A New Zealand based website – www.whatiwant.co.nz was launched on Tuesday 4th October and is set to change the face of gift purchasing forever.
The site offers a fun and interactive gift website where members create a profile detailing exactly what they want. People then search and buy gifts that people actually want - no more unwanted gifts!
The brainchild of creators Abi Smith and Alyssa Cullen the site was developed after receiving unwanted presents and never knowing what to buy someone. The site is the first of its kind in the world and Abi and Alyssa hope to leverage the success in New Zealand to develop a global site within 3 years.
It’s free for people to join and they detail in their profile things like their favourite stores, hobbies and things they hate to be given as gifts. They then create a more detailed “List of wants” that describes exactly what gifts they want – with web links to the stores they want gifts from. The site also offers a reminder function for important dates.
Abi states “It’s a fun, interactive site that offers something that no-one else in the world is doing – we aim to be the number 8 wire for gifts!” Alyssa adds “We have had such a positive response since the launch –Kiwis were in desperate need of help with gift purchases. The site takes out the stress of gift buying. It still allows people to be creative, but they now have information to make those decisions.”
The site also aims to encourage NZ companies to ‘step up to the plate’ by offering online purchasing, online vouchers and worldwide delivery. Alyssa adds “Websites are no longer just an optional ‘pretty function’ but instead are becoming a much needed shopfront that can offer customers immediate service”.
The website address is www.whatiwant.co.nz and with over 4000 hits since the launch it’s a website you will be adding to your favourites before long!
