AA Announces Retirement Of Long-Serving Public Affairs Director
The AA has today announced that its long-serving Director of Public Affairs, George Fairbairn will retire this Friday.
Mr Fairbairn has spent most of his working life with the AA and over the years has become the face and voice of the organisation on motoring policy matters.
AA President, Noel Vaughan, said that George has been part of the fabric of the AA, strongly representing the Association both domestically and internationally.
"George has managed the rare feat of successfully being a strong advocate for the Association, while also developing friendships and respect among those he was often at odds with on policy matters," Mr. Vaughan said.
His wise counsel and steadying influence will be missed within the AA, he said.
AA CEO, Brian Gibbons, has advised that Mr. Fairbairn will be replaced by Mike Noon. Mr. Noon will assume responsibility for the Motoring Affairs Division of the AA from Monday October 3rd.
"Mike has extensive experience in both Government and private industry, working in a number of senior roles, which have included Director of the Office of Tourism and Sport and a number of senior positions in the oil industry," Mr. Gibbons said.
"The Association looks forward to Mike and his team continuing and strengthening the AA's role as the motorists' champion, strongly representing the interests of our growing Membership."
