Black Coffee Proves A Successful Brew In The UK
Wellington based Black Coffee Software has impressed the United Kingdom market with its fine blend of express services.
The software development company recently strengthened its presence in Britain with a contract for Wax Info Ltd. The success of this work has seen Wax Info nominated for the Best use of outsourcing by an SME award in next week’s prestigious UK National Outsourcing Awards. Black Coffee helped to develop software destined for an estimated 850,000 users in Japan, working in institutions such as hospitals where there is a strong need to store information securely.
The ultra modern Knowledge Management System was created with a UK development team, effectively enabling work to be carried out 24 hours a day to meet tough deadlines. Ross Coldwell of Wax Info says, “The Black Coffee people are great to work with, they are easy to talk to, they are flexible with their commercial arrangements and have demonstrated their professionalism right from the first contact”.
Black Coffee won the $300,000 contract following a scoping trip to the UK that was partially funded by the region’s economic development agency, Positively Wellington Business.
“We’re now in a great position to cement our reputation in the UK market. We’ve got a seriously good track record and you just can’t quantify what that’s worth,” says Black Coffee CEO Ian Prisk. Mr Prisk will attend the award ceremony to be held in London next Thursday (22nd September).
In what looks to be a month of milestones, Black Coffee have also been nominated for an award in the New Zealand Hi-tech awards, and will celebrate their fifth birthday later in September. The company is now 21-strong and its 30 – 35% compounding annual growth saw them placed 10th in last years Deloitte Fast 50 awards for business growth in New Zealand. They anticipate growing their staff to 100 in the next 5 – 10 years.
“We heartily congratulate Black Coffee and see the award nomination as a terrific opportunity to highlight the Welllington region and New Zealand as an outsourcing destination. Outsourcing is a promising path to exporting for many local ICT firms,” says PWB’s CEO Philip Lewin.
