InterContinental Hotels Group Appoints New Regional Manager NZ/South Pacific
David Shackleton, New Zealand's InterContinental Hotels Group's new head, is a man with a vision. He wants New Zealand's InterContinental Hotels Group to be the number one choice for international travellers, corporates and local communities. With his impressive track record he is just the man to make it happen.
"Our group brings together three internationally renowned and powerful brands, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and the Holiday Inn and the local brand Centra. I look forward to building and expanding the brands in New Zealand and the South Pacific," he says.
With over thirty years experience as a global senior executive focused on business and strong profit orientation, David's appointment as the Regional Manager NZ/South Pacific is the next step in what has been an amazing career to date.
His impressive resume includes executive appointments with Starwood Hotels & Resort Worldwide, Inc, in Australia, Singapore and Thailand. He has also held several hotel General Manager appointments in Singapore, Hawaii, Korea and Canada.
When David saw the InterContinental Hotels Group, the world's most global company with over 3,300 hotels, was looking for a Regional Manager NZ/South Pacific he knew he was up for the challenge.
David was attracted to the job because New Zealand is becoming one of the most sought after travel destinations in the world and domestic travel continues to rise. New Zealand, with a strong portfolio of hotels, provides him with the opportunity to apply his international experience at a local level.
"The only constant in the hotel business is change. Today's consumer has very high expectations. They want an experience that exceeds their expectations whether that is as a guest, diner or attending a function. To achieve this you need to continually review your operations and ensure that what you are delivering remains first class," he says.
"The InterContinental Hotels Group is committed to Asia Pacific growth. Having spent the last 20 or so years in the region, I believe the potential to grow our brands in New Zealand is excellent and I look forward to developing our portfolio."
For the next month or so David will be familiarising himself with New Zealand's International Hotel Group that has hotels located in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.
His initial impressions are that he has a high calibre team around him and this will enable him to focus on continued growth in New Zealand.
"We have a very strong and professional team who are committed to continuing to strengthen the group's profile and market share. By knowing that I can concentrate on looking at expanding our presence in the New Zealand market," he says.
As his track record shows he is just the man to make it a reality.
