Mike Pero Receives Award For Services To Mortgage Broking Industry
Mike Pero has been recognised for his services to the mortgage broking industry in the annual mortgage broker awards.
The Geoff Chong Memorial Award for services to the industry was presented to Mike Pero by the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association at their Broker of the Year awards.
The awards are the equivalent of the Oscars for mortgage brokers in New Zealand and recognise outstanding achievement within the mortgage broking sector. The panel consists of other broker firms, lenders and banks representing the industry. NZMBA membership now exceeds 800 members and the growth of this membership has also been accredited to Mike Pero’s positive influence in marketing the use of brokers through his own television campaigns.
Mike Pero’s rags to riches story has inspired many Kiwi business people to be entrepreneurs, especially Mike’s peers in the mortgage broking industry.
Mike grew up in Aranui, a lower-socio economic Christchurch suburb, and has become over the past 15 years a successful businessman and is recognised for his entrepreneurial and enterprising marketing skills.
In 1990 he established Mike Pero Mortgages. From the onset the company has been a clear leader in the independent home loan market with a prompted market awareness of over 94% of New Zealanders.
Mike sold the company in 2004 but remains a shareholder. He is on the company’s board and promotes the Mike Pero Mortgages brand as a consultant to the company.
Despite his many business successes, Mike Pero says that he was “very humbled” to be honoured with the award amongst his industry peers.
“I believe that if you have a business dream and are prepared to work hard at it, while giving to others along the way, then you can’t help but be successful,” says Mike.
“I’ve been lucky to have worked with an amazing team of people and industry peers. It’s when you serve such dynamic and talented people through good leadership, that you often find your own success,” concludes Mike.
The Broker of the Year awards were held in Auckland on Friday 15 September 2005.
