Daring journalist Oliver Hall bursts into the kiwi living room!
Oliver Hall makes his television debut on TV2 tonight when he interviews Prime Minister Helen Clark and leader of the
opposition Don Brash in the premiere of New Zealand's new gay talk show - Outhouse.
Halls decision last month to use All Black, Aaron Mauger on the cover of New Zealand's national gay magazine, Express
gained front page coverage in the NZ Herald. Hall is also remembered for the 2004 'outing' of politicians voting against
the Civil Union Bill which he tagged; 'The Ugly Faces of Homophobia'.
In the short space of two years this young 22 year old has made a huge impact in both gay and mainstream New Zealand
culture . and he's only just got going!
Oliver was born and bred in the UK. Hall packed his bags and headed for Australia at the age of 18. He promptly landed a
job writing for one of Australia's oldest street publications - REVOLVER. Hall made such an impression that Sydney based
REVOLVER, went out of its way to sponsor him - making Hall one of the youngest people awarded a business sponsorship in
Australia.
After eighteen months in Sydney Hall moved to Perth where he easily found work as a reporter for Xpress and Zebra-Hype
before heading to New Zealand in 2003. It only took Oliver two weeks to find work as an entertainment reporter for
Express magazine. Within six months Hall became editor, one month after his 21st birthday. In this time he made radical
changes to the content and design of the publication and increased national circulation.
During Hall's time at Express he has interviewed numerous international and national personalities including Helen
Clark, Don Brash, Paul Holmes, Ian McKellan, Karen Walker, KD Lang, Melissa Etheridge, Pamela Andreson, Danni Minogue,
The Spice Girls and most recently - All Black Aaron Mauger.
Oliver Hall is without doubt a high achiever. Not to be limited to the gay community - Oliver has also begun to become
noticed in the mainstream, which should get ready to see a lot more of the talented and ambitious Oliver Hall.
