Gillman Real Estate Wins Clever Company Award
Gillman's Real Estate, Christchurch, has been awarded a Clever Companies award for its smart and innovative business practices in the real estate industry.
The company was selected from 1000 businesses who took part in a business survey conducted by PriceWaterhouse Coopers and the Employers' Manufacturing Association.
Gillmans was the only real estate company to receive Clever Company recognition in the nationwide survey.
Gillmans received Clever Company' acknowledgement by taking the smart road' in the real estate industry.
For Gillman's directors Mitch Goodall and Sue Goulding, this has meant "turning the traditional model for real estate on its head, merging several franchises and introducing an upmarket, high quality head office' to Christchurch," says Sue Goulding.
Being clever has seen Gillmans transform the corner dairy' styled franchised operation of real estate franchises into a centralised company. This was no mean feat as Gillmans is a buoyant company with 93 staff.
"Gillman's clever transformation has meant an improvement in income for sales people, a thriving business culture, and a lot more fun at the company" says Mitch Goodall.
"By centralising, sales people now have the best technology at their fingertips, and it is more of a team environment as opposed to the previous model of competitive franchisees thinking only of themselves," says Mitch Goodall.
"This has resulted in a healthy culture of information-sharing amongst team members, developing and encouraging team culture, and an environment where the bar is being continually raised from within the team."
As a result of centralising, Gillmans has less expenses. better control and consistency of the Gillman brand which has meant that both staff and customers are happy and are enjoying the benefits of being clever.
"There is a lot more laughter in the office" says Mitch. "Being a clever company means that our people are happier, and can offer clients the best expertise available. To be more effective and happier is smart," says Mitch Goodall.
It is this thriving culture of fun that is allowing Gillmans to have recognition in the real estate industry and is seeing Gillmans attract a higher calibre of new recruits to its team.
The PriceWaterhouse Coppers/ EMA Clever Companies Awards were held at Chateau on the Park, Christchurch, Wednesday night. [Wednesday, 24th August 2005].
