Jim Mora to Host Weekday Afternoons on National Radio
Radio New Zealand has announced that television presenter Jim Mora is to host a revamped Weekday Afternoon programme on
National Radio.
Jim Mora is well-known as the presenter of the popular Mucking In makeover show on TV ONE. Winner of a number of Qantas
Media Awards, both for his reporting on the former “Holmes” TV show, and in print, he has been a columnist for Metro
magazine and the Sunday Star-Times, has written many TV shows, and made several documentaries.
No stranger to Radio New Zealand, Jim has often featured on National Radio in recent years, occasionally filling in for
Linda Clark on “Nine-To-Noon”, and as a guest commentator with Chris Laidlaw on Sunday mornings.
Weekday Afternoons with Jim Mora will build on the regional focus of the existing In Touch with New Zealand programme.
The magazine and lifestyle format will be retained and Wayne Mowat continues to play an important role as the anchor of
regionally-based outside broadcasts which feed into the programme.
Jim Mora says he is looking forward to his new challenge:
"It's a great challenge, and an honour actually, to be on the first National Radio weekday show broadcast out of
Auckland.
“Part of that challenge will be to maintain the existing strong regional focus to the programme. There'll be new people
on board with me too - guests and panellists - and I want to build a new constituency around that. I'm excited by the
opportunity to work with Wayne's community of listeners and to expand that community by inviting new listeners to join
us.
“I will be looking to build on what has done over the years and to take it to another place - literally, actually,
because coming out of Auckland we are bound to sound different… it'll be a lot of fun! “
The first of the new Weekday Afternoons with Jim Mora will go to air on Monday 19th September on National Radio.
Jim Mora and partner Mary Lambie – the former host of TV’s “Good Morning” and now a columnist and radio broadcaster
herself – have three small children and two Burman cats. They live in inner-city Auckland.
