More than 20,000 business reference CDs are being distributed this week in what is believed to be the largest mailing of its kind in New Zealand.
It also marks the introduction of the country’s first free offline electronic business directory.
The CDs, which contain profiles on 16,000 leading NZ companies, their brands, activities, products and services and contact details, will be distributed free to businesses nationwide.
Sam Giffney, General Manager of Kompass New Zealand says it is a powerful tool for searching and contacting NZ businesses by a multitude of different criteria.
“The paper phone book is great for sourcing home or personal services but business requirements are more complex.“
Mr Giffney says the Kompass Explorer CD combines the world’s best business information system with reliable local business data and world-leading local technology in a single business tool.
The Explorer CD also contains interactive videos and information about the services of the companies that developed the CD enabling it to be distributed free, Media Technology and Solution Dynamics.
Digital media logistics company Media Technology contributed its expertise in packaging and mailing to provide mailers that run effortlessly through both NZ and Australia Post’s automated mail sorting machines. According to Media Technology’s Carl Naessens, this means lower postage costs, less damage and faster delivery. “We’ve put a lot of development into creating an outer that protects the CD and its contents without compromising cost efficiency through post,” he says.
Keith Norris, CEO of the Marketing Association, says “This is not only a great business aid, it's also an innovative use of mail as a media.”
