Renewed Interest in Levin Lifestyle Properties Sees Record Prices Achieved
A renewed resurgence in overseas buying interest, particularly from ‘ex-pats’ and Wellingtonians in recent weeks has seen record prices being achieved for lifestyle properties and rural subdivisions in the Levin area just North of Wellington. Not one, but three of Harcourts Sales Consultant, Suzanne Cottle’s most recent property sales in Levin all achieved what she believed to be record prices in the last month.
The latest was a well presented deer-fenced 14 hectare lifestyle block on Joblins Road with a five-year old four bedroom executive home backing on to Papaitonga Native reserve. Keen bidding from three parties at the auction on 21 July saw it achieve a record $910,000 (+ gst) under the hammer.
Ms Cottle said the property was very high quality in all respects and as a result attracted strong buying interest from mainly the greater Wellington/Wairarapa area. “It was in two titles, has excellent soil type, and is very private with fabulous views of the hills. It really was an immaculate property.”
Ms Cottle, who is a consistent Harcourts Top 20 National Sales Consultant, specialises in rural and lifestyle property and said she has noticed renewed buyer interest for rural environments within an easy drive of Wellington. In particular, she was receiving a lot of overseas interest for the new style popular “rural subdivisions” with larger sections. “The number of ex-pat enquiries I’m receiving now is incredible and often these people have more money to spend.”
The two other properties marketed by Ms Cottle which achieved record prices in July were:
- A four bedroom unfinished executive home on a 1.5 acre (6,765 sqm) Pohutakawa Drive site in Levin achieved an outstanding $475,000. Ms Cottle believed this was a new record as in recent months homes in this subdivision were achieving around $440,000.
- The third property was an upmarket four bedroom four-year old home on a one acre (5,700 sqm) section in Redwood Grove, Levin which achieved $560,000.
