How do you find out about new websites?
Regular internet users, defined as people who have personally used the internet in the last 4 weeks, were asked how they
most often found out about new websites. The two most popular ways were from friends and/or family, and via search
engines.
Men were slightly more likely to report using search engines, whereas women were more likely to turn to friends and
family for help. Personal recommendations were also more important for respondents aged 15 – 24.
Interviewing took place during 9 June - 14 June 2005, on ACN’s Omnibus Survey Information Express. The research was
conducted via computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI), and a total of 997 interviews were completed for this
Omnibus.
