Watercare wins international annual report award
New Zealand’s largest water and wastewater company, Watercare, has won a platinum award for its 2004 annual report in the League of American Communications Professionals’ 2004 Vision Awards.
Watercare won the platinum award in the energy/utilities category. The company also won the bronze award in the best report narrative competition, across all categories.
More than 1400 companies worldwide entered the competition. Watercare’s report ranked 23rd in the prestigious top 100, ahead of companies including Boeing, Citigroup, Lockheed Martin, Infosys, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Anglo American, Stanley, Kimberley Clark, Metlife, Cadbury Schweppes, Rand Corporation, Caterpillar and Korean Airlines. Winning entries came from 17 nations.
“It is nice to win awards in international competition as we always aim to benchmark ourselves against world best practice,” said Watercare chief executive Mark Ford. “It is most gratifying to receive independent confirmation that we are communicating to our stakeholders fully and effectively.”
Earlier this year Watercare won the supreme award in the ACCA Australia and New Zealand Awards For Sustainability Reporting 2004, out of 34 entries. Watercare was a joint winner of the same award in 2003.
