FARMING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS OPEN
Applications for New Zealand's most prestigious farming award, Nuffield Farming Scholarships, are now open.
Nuffield Farming Scholarships promote leadership and innovation in agriculture through worldwide study and interpersonal
contact.
Two or three scholarships are awarded each year. Winners travel overseas to study the latest agricultural developments,
and meet leaders and decision makers. Nuffield Scholars return with new knowledge and valuable new contacts. Many
scholars become prominent in the farming community and other walks of life.
Nuffield Farming Scholarships have been offered to innovative New Zealand farmers for more than 50 years. Past scholars
include government ministers, agri-business directors, and industry and community leaders.
Current New Zealand Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust chairman Alistair Polson was recently appointed New Zealand's
next Special Agricultural Trade Envoy.
Scholarships are for approximately six months and include time overseas. The packages are worth $35,000 plus they
provide recipients access to a lifetime of invaluable international agri-business contacts.
Scholarship applicants must demonstrate an ability and desire to participate in leadership in agriculture and the wider
rural community.
The New Zealand Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust is supported by Dairy InSight, Meat & Wool New Zealand, Rabobank New Zealand, Mackenzie Charitable Foundation (Ashburton), Landcorp Farming Ltd and Federated
Farmers of New Zealand (Inc).
Applications for 2006 scholarships close Friday 2 September 2005. Potential applicants should visit www.nuffield.org.nz or email nuffield@fedfarm.org.nz
