The resignation of CEO George Bellew
Our CEO, George Bellew has tendered his resignation to take up a position in Oman where they are about to undertake a US$1 billion upgrade of their two major airports.
George has been with Christchurch International Airport (CIAL) for 17 years having commenced in 1988 shortly after the airport was corporatised. Canterbury can count itself very fortunate to have retained him for such period where top performing Chief Executives of George's calibre are strongly sought after.
George's contribution to this company and airports of the world has been nothing short of outstanding. He leaves the Airport Company with the legacy of a strong and highly capable management team ensuring the company will continue to perform in a very dynamic and competitive industry.
Importantly, he also leaves the company in a very strong financial position ready to respond to the rapidly changing nature of this industry, the needs of its customers and the critical role this company has for the economic growth of Canterbury and our nation.
The Board and its shareholders wish George and his very supportive wife Dawne all the very best in their new venture.
